About Katie

I grew up on the Moray coast, watching the light shift over the firth from season to season. That landscape stayed with me — and it's still what I paint today.

I work from a studio in Nairn, building every frame and stretching every canvas by hand. Whether it's a stretch of beach from childhood or a garden someone treasures, I paint places that mean something to the people who live with them.

My work has been shown across the Highlands, and I take on a small number of commissions each year.

A word from the sponsor

Standing on the shores of the Moray Firth has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Its wide waters, shifting skies and sense of space and calm have always thrilled me. Because of this connection, I spent years searching for an artist who could truly capture its beauty and the feeling of being there—the changing light, moods and quiet power of the landscape. When I discovered Katie’s work, I immediately recognised that she has this gift.

The Moray Firth is a mystical body of water. Its ever-changing light and weather can transform the landscape from tranquil to dramatic within minutes. Mists drift across the water, rain sweeps down the Firth and shafts of western light break through heavy cloud to make the sea shimmer. Capturing these fleeting moments is a true test of an artist’s eye.

Katie’s work does exactly this. With a subtle, sensitive touch, she brings these qualities to the canvas, blending atmosphere, detail and emotion. Her paintings are more than depictions of a place; they express a deep connection to this part of Scotland.

For those who know and love the Moray Firth, Katie’s paintings capture its mood, energy and soul.

It has been a privilege to support Katie over the past five years as she has continued to develop her distinctive artistic voice, create new work and explore fresh landscapes. Her talent, dedication and deep understanding of place continue to inspire confidence in what lies ahead. I look forward to seeing her work reach ever wider audiences in the years to come while remaining rooted in the authenticity and vision that make it so compelling.
